Steve's Story
Once upon a time... No wait, that's the start of a different story! Hey, I was the new kid in town. Lived in Zellwood on the wrong side of the tracks, moved here from Mo. in '71 and have been in Cen Fla. ever since. After graduation I was enrolled and accepted at U.F. Did everything but show up! Thank God I was at least smart enough to know that I hated school and didn't belong back in it, especially since it wasn't going to be free or easy anymore.
So I bought a house in Zellwood when I was 19 and went to work instead. I got married in '78 and am still married to Paula. We lived in that first house for about 10 years and started a family there. We have two girls, Stefanie, 39, and Laura, 33, and a son, Matt, who's 38 now. Stefanie graduated from UCF and is married Jim Caudill and lives in Winter Garden,Fl. She has a 5 year old named Charlotte and a 2 year old named Stella and she works from Home for Coca-Cola. Laura is married to Adam Meeks (Bea's son), has a 2.5 year old boy named Maverick and works in Orlando and lives in Ocoee. Matt did 8 years in the Marine Corps. Got married and has an 11 year old son named Joey. He got his BA in psychology and his masters in HR and works for Orange County for 5 years in Human Resources.
We moved to Ocoee in the mid-80's and owned two homes there. Our kids grew up in the Ocoee and W. Orange school systems for the most part. We moved to Clermont in 2000 and have lived here ever since.

ter that I worked for myself as a subcontractor for air freight deliveries and pick-ups in the Lake Co. and W. Orange Co. area for a year or so. That was great but company politics got in the way of that and I got out of it. Went to work for a company called Cintas and spent 23 years there. Started as a route salesman and spent years in management before I left. The last five years there I was an outside salesman. Went from a decent company to one just like all the other big ones. Everybody's a number!! Had to get out while still sane.
I started a small business about 15 years ago. It's called WFD, or Wholesale Furniture Dealers, and I sell furnitur and mattresses. It's an online business and home based. I like the flexibility and pretty much come and go as I please. It's still hard work but it beats punching a clock.
My main outside interest is music. I guess most of you who really knew me know that already. I'm in a band at present called Jigsaw. We're on MySpace Our schedule is on there so if you get a chance come out and see us. We play a lot of small clubs in the Apopka area and all over Cen. Fla. Play a lot of private parties, receptions, etc., and have a blast. Ain't gettin' rich and famous but havin' a good time. We're a cover band for the most part and do classic rock, southern rock, country, R&B, Motown, adult contemporary, and pretty much whatever turns us on!
